Our biggest motivation is to replace adverse health messaging with positive behaviour change campaigns and programmes. We aim to give young people, in particular, a better chance to thrive and flourish by working in partnership to deliver change. To better engage with populations before they reach crisis point. We wanted to utilise exciting and emerging technologies for ‘good’ and combine all of this with evidence-based ways of delivering long-term, habit changing attitudes and skills for life. In combining the above, we believed we could empower both individuals and their communities.
Our first social norms pilot, R U Different? in our home city of Salford was a great success, leading us to work with Salford for many years and directly engaging over 150,000 young people through the UK and Denmark. Many positive independent evaluations and awards followed.
In 2014, we supported this programme by building programmes in the areas of Emotional Wellbeing with our Mindful Me programme, Healthy Relationships with our Change Up programme, and Physical Health through our Healthy Me programme.
We again reached our aim of achieving high impacts by combining evidence-based approaches with highly qualified caring people working locally within their schools and communities.
With digital platforms underpinning these combined efforts, our programmes have created a blueprint for success and sustainability that can now be replicated in other parts of the UK and internationally under license.
Following lengthy consultation and professional advice, we created Social Sense CIC in 2017 to focus on place-based programme delivery and charitable partnership working. A new governing board is now in place.
Social Sense Ltd is now focussed entirely on programme design and development, consultancy to the voluntary sector, delivering transformational change, social marketing campaigns, training and partnership licensing opportunities.
Profits redistributed from Social Sense Ltd – combined with direct commissions, grant awards, and other fundraising efforts – enable us to deliver high volume social impacts at scale.
In summary, we are well placed to deliver social change at an exciting new level.
